Role Description
DC Construction is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Construction Estimator for a full-time, on-site role in Oakland, CA. The Construction Estimator will be responsible for independently preparing accurate project budgets based on quantity take-offs, managing costs effectively, and preparing bids and cost estimates. Additional responsibilities include collaborating with different teams to evaluate project requirements, maintaining communication with clients and subcontractors, and adhering to company and safety standards.
The ideal candidate has a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in project estimating, preferably with a general contractor within the residential and commercial sectors. This individual will report directly to DC Construction’s Chief Estimator.
Responsibilities
- Set up project estimating framework.
- Review project plans, specifications, and other documents to determine scope of work and prepare accurate cost estimates.
- Collaborate with management, team members, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather necessary information for estimating purposes.
- Attend job-walks/site visits and document site conditions.
- Analyze project requirements and develop comprehensive bid proposals.
- Negotiate and manage suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing and achieve on-time milestones.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Secure and set up construction contracts through competitive bidding.
Qualifications
- Construction Estimating: 3-5 years (general contracting experience required)
- Proficiency in Construction Estimating and Quantity Take-offs
- Strong skills in Cost Management and Budgeting
- Excellent Communication skills for teamwork and client interaction
- Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
- Valid driver’s license.
- Strong organizational skills, professionalism, and attention to detail.
- Exceptional time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and work independently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English required; Spanish a plus).
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Familiarity with construction management software (Autodesk Construction Cloud, Building Connected), a plus.
- Able to maintain confidentiality and remain calm under pressure.
- Ability to read plans, blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings effectively.
- Strong understanding of contracts related to construction projects.

- Commercial TI ($250K-$10M)
- Historical Projects
- Public Works (PWL, Section 3)
- Residential ($250-$10M)

Compensation: (Salary) $80,000.00 - $110,000.00 USD (pending experience)
Benefits: (50%) Health & Dental
Shift & Schedule: M-F 8:00AM-4:30PM, 8 hour shift, Overtime as needed
