Organization Overview

The DC Coalition Against Domestic Violence (DCCADV) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to creating a community where domestic violence is replaced with human dignity. DCCADV is the federally recognized domestic violence coalition in the District of Columbia and serves as a resource for the thousands of adults and children experiencing domestic violence each year, as well as the local organizations that serve them. Our fundamental goals are to provide leadership and support, build awareness, and enhance systemic response to survivors of domestic violence and their children in Washington, DC.

 

Position Summary:

To ensure that the Coalition can efficiently and effectively support survivors of domestic violence and the organizations that support them, under the direction of the Executive Director, the Programs Director will be responsible for supervising and overseeing the work of four team members who implement DCCADV’s training, outreach, prevention, health and wellness, and evaluation efforts. The person in this position will collaborate with DCCADV staff to understand member program needs and develop resources in response. The Programs Director serves on the organization’s Leadership Team and coordinates the implementation of federal and local government grant programs including identifying program deliverables, applying for funds, and reporting program activities. DCCADV is an organization with a budget of over $2 million and 11 staff members. The Programs Director will work with members of the Leadership Team and finance team to develop our annual organizational work plan that aligns our programmatic deliverables with relevant funding sources. The person in this position participates in a number of projects and leads work groups to support member-identified projects. The ideal candidate for this position comes from the domestic violence direct service field—knowing the challenges and joys of the work—and wants to assist our membership in implementing best practices.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

Specific position responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

Grant Administration

  • Oversee the administration of government grants supporting DCCADV’s work, including writing and submitting grant applications, and program implementation
  • In partnership with DCCADV’s Administrative Director and finance team, draft and track project budgets
  • Participate in the development of DCCADV’s annual organization budget
  • In partnership with all staff, develop annual organizational workplan that outlines projected program deliverables

 

Program Development

  • In partnership with DCCADV team members, design training curricula and facilitate and evaluate trainings
  • Work with the DC Department of Human Services—the FVPSA State Administrator—to support the implementation FVPSA funding in DC
  • In partnership with the Director of Development and Communications, spearhead training offerings to corporate supporters

 

Member Support

  • Ensure that member programs, government agencies, ally organizations, and community-based groups have an open door to request training and technical assistance support while also ensuring that DCCADV’s responsive supports are timely, tied to best practices, and centered on the needs of survivors
  • Oversee DCCADV’s Membership Application Process
  • Ensure smooth coordination of DCCADV’s Holiday Gift Drive
  • Support DCCADV’s city-wide needs assessment (4-year process)
  • Develop and disseminate annual calendar to member programs identifying member supports including trainings, committee and work group meetings, appreciation events and any other DCCADV member offerings
  • Serve as the staff support to a number of DCCADV member workgroups and task forces

 

Community Engagement

  • Develop partnerships across sectors including education, health, legal, homelessness,

child welfare, and immigration systems

  • Collaborate in systems advocacy efforts, including convening work groups and

participating in city-wide task forces to develop strategies and goals to improve trauma

informed supports and services

  • Ensure coordination and implementation of Domestic Violence Awareness Month activities across full DCCADV membership, as well as additional outreach events throughout the year
  • Other duties or tasks as assigned by Executive Director


Related skills and experience

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the dynamics of domestic violence (also referred to as intimate partner, gender-based, family violence and/or domestic terrorism), its prevalence, and community impact
  • Commitment to the eradication of gender-based violence
  • Commitment to accessibility, trauma informed care, and language justice
  • Previous experience working for a DC-based domestic violence service provider preferred, and 7 to 10 years program management, including supervisory experience and successful government grant administration  
  • Significant experience in government grants management, grant writing, and reporting
  • Knowledge of program evaluation best practices
  • Excellent communication, writing, and public speaking skills
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Experience in program development and implementation
  • Experience in developing and implementing training curriculum
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient use of Windows operating system and programs
  • Ability to work autonomously and as a team member
  • Ability to attend to multiple projects and tasks, with strong attention to detail
  • Candidate must be organized and able to handle multiple projects and deadlines


Additional Information

  • The person filling this role must be willing to work a hybrid schedule in DCCADV’s offices and be able to travel in and around DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia to work purposes as needed
  • DCCADV employees are subject to Mayoral orders regarding vaccinations and masking requirements and will be expected to follow any subsequent mandates, as well as DCCADV policies
  • Occasional evening and weekend hours will be required
  • Salary range for this position is $90,000 -$100,000 annually, commensurate with experience

 

Benefits Package Includes

  • Health Insurance – The Coalition contributes towards employee health insurance plans with an increase contribution if a child is added to the policy. The coverage selected—from 16 available health insurance plans—determines the employee cost of the premium.
  • Life insurance – A life insurance policy is paid by the Coalition on behalf of each employee.
  • Long- and Short-Term Disability Insurance – The plan will replace up to 60% of an employee’s weekly gross salary.
  • Retirement – The Coalition offers a 403(b) plan and employees may immediately make 100% vested pre-tax contributions to the plan. After six months, employees are eligible for a 1% discretionary employer match and up to an additional 3% employer match of employee’s salary.
  • Annual Time Off
  • 16 paid holidays, including winter break the last week of the calendar year
  • Vacation Time – 80 hours from hire to 35 months of service, 120 hours from 36 months to 71 months of service, 160 hours from 72 months to 107 months of service, 200 hours for 108 months of service
  • Sick Time – 88 hours for all full-time employees
