Description

The Director, U.S. Policy & Advocacy will report to the Vice President, Corporate Affairs, and support the company’s U.S. government affairs and patient advocacy platform. The role will support the Vice President, Corporate Affairs in cultivating and managing relationships with members of congress and staff, patient advocacy organizations, coalitions, medical societies, and policy influencers, while executing both sponsored and non-sponsored engagements and advocacy events that advance the company’s policy and business priorities. The role combines external relationship-building with strong operational execution, including management of corporate sponsorships, contracts, purchase orders, and vendor payments. This position is 50% policy and 50% patient advocacy. An interest in healthcare, specific to allergy and immunology, is preferred.

Location : Washington DC

Salary Range : 140K-190K

Key Responsibilities

  • Advocacy Strategy & External Stakeholder Engagement
  • Support the development and execution of U.S. policy and advocacy strategies aligned to company priorities and therapeutic area objectives (allergy and immunology)
  • Build and maintain relationships with patient advocacy organizations, members of congress and their staff, coalitions, trade associations, medical societies, and other influencers
  • Coordinate stakeholder mapping, engagement plans, outreach tracking, and follow-up to ensure consistent relationship management and measurable progress
  • Policy Monitoring, Analysis, Briefing Materials
  • Monitor U.S. legislative/regulatory developments relevant to the company (FDA/HHS), provide concise updates and recommended actions
  • Draft advocacy-facing materials (talking points, one-pagers, briefing documents, stakeholder Q&As, slides) and help prepare executives for external meetings
  • Manage calls and contracts with relevant consultants
  • Corporate Sponsorships, Grants Operations & Event Execution
  • Own the annual corporate patient advocacy sponsorships calendar: identify strategic opportunities, coordinate internal reviews, manage approvals, and track deliverables
  • Plan and execute advocacy programs (e.g., Hill days/fly-ins, policy forums, advocacy summits, conference activations) in partnership with external organizations and internal teams
  • Manage logistics including registrations, speaker coordination, agendas, briefing prep, onsite execution (staffing), and post-event reporting
  • Contracts, POs, Budget & Vendor Management
  • Draft, route, and manage sponsorship agreements, SOWs, and other engagement contracts in partnership with legal/compliance and the head of corporate affairs
  • Create and manage purchase requisitions and POs, track invoices, confirm receipt of deliverables, and coordinate payment with Finance
  • Track program budgets, maintain clean documentation, and ensure adherence to internal controls and audit-ready records
  • Cross-Functional Coordination & Compliance
  • Coordinate cross-functionally with relevant departments (medical affairs, clinical operations, other corporate affairs functions) to ensure policy and advocacy activity is aligned with broader U.S. policy strategy and communications

Qualifications

Director, U.S. Policy & Advocacy

  • Bachelor’s degree required (Public Policy, Political Science, Public Health, Communications or related), advanced degree strongly preferred.
  • 8 years’ experience in government affairs, public policy, patient advocacy, or political/policy organizations, preferably in healthcare, biotech, or pharma.
  • Proven experience supporting federal policy initiatives, patient advocacy strategy, and advising senior leadership.
  • Established relationships with relevant policy and/or advocacy stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of the U.S. healthcare and biopharmaceutical policy environment and comfort operating in a matrixed, cross-functional organization.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to manage multiple projects independently, with precision.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Capitol Hill experience, HHS/FDA experience, campaign/political experience, or relevant committee/leadership office background.
  • Biotech/pharma/medical device experience.
  • Experience with CRM/stakeholder tracking tools and advocacy platforms.
  • Familiarity with sponsorship grants/compliance requirements in life sciences.

Salary : $140,000 - $190,000
