Design Manager - Architecture

DBI/David Brown International
Henderson, NV Full Time
POSTED ON 10/9/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 11/22/2026

Lead people, elevate design standards, and help shape distinctive high-design residential work.

The opportunity This is a hands-on leadership role for an architect or design leader who thrives in a fast-moving, highly collaborative environment. You will guide design teams, strengthen workflows, influence the quality of custom residential projects, and still have opportunities to contribute directly to high-profile design work.

Why this role stands out

The project team has meaningful influence on design through production, creating room for your ideas, judgment, and design leadership to matter.  Manage designer workloads while coaching, mentoring, interviewing, hiring, and training design staff.  Provide architectural design direction and oversight, contribute as a designer when needed, and support high-profile custom residential projects.  Partner with leadership and teams in construction, operations, purchasing, sales, marketing, accounting, and visualization to improve project outcomes. Create, refine, document, and train design processes and standards so teams can work more efficiently and consistently.  The culture emphasizes weekly one-on-ones, hands-on learning, an open workspace, and collaboration across levels of the firm.

What you will do

  • Partner with design leadership to maintain a high standard of performance and advance design quality through aligned operations, strong teamwork, and proactive problem solving.
  • Ensure project design direction reflects the firm’s design ethos, standards, tools, and best practices.
  • Lead designer staffing and workload distribution across multiple active projects.
  • Coach, mentor, train, interview, and hire design talent while setting clear expectations and holding teams accountable.
  • Create, monitor, update, document, and train processes and procedures for design-related work.
  • Promote consistent use of design technology, including SketchUp, Revit, Bluebeam, and related visualization tools.
  • Collaborate with visualization teams and support client-facing design presentations, models, and project assets.
  • Provide architectural design direction and oversight for custom residential work and step in as a designer on high-profile projects when needed.
  • Support sales and marketing teams with design insight and accurate design collateral as appropriate.
  • Help coordinate a design committee, keeping discussions focused on current priorities and design standards.

What you bring

  • 6 years of residential and/or hospitality architectural experience within an architecture, homebuilding, or hands-on construction environment.
  • 3 years of architectural management experience, including leading design teams and establishing priorities and expectations.
  • Professional Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited Architecture program.
  • Architectural registration preferred, or active progress toward licensure.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to pivot, motivate, develop, and hold teams accountable in a high-energy, fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional professionalism, communication, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Routine proficiency with SketchUp, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office; familiarity with Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, Lumion, and Enscape is preferred.

Self-directed working style and the ability to manage multiple priorities with limited day-to-day handholding.

What success looks like

Success in this role is measured by both design leadership and execution: the depth of your software and project experience, the breadth of your project involvement, and your ability to keep teams effective as priorities shift.

  • You keep multiple projects moving while staying flexible as pace and priorities change.
  • You improve team consistency through clear workflows, design standards, and coaching.
  • You contribute strong design thinking and can communicate how you develop an idea, including through hand sketching and early design exploration.
  • You bring curiosity, a willingness to learn, and genuine interest in high-design residential work.

The work environment

This is an in-office role in Las Vegas. The environment is open and collaborative, with frequent interaction across the organization. Candidates should be comfortable working independently, moving quickly, and adapting to changing project demands. Weekly manager one-on-ones and hands-on learning are part of the team culture.

Interview note

The interview process may include a facilitated Revit assessment. The assessment has historically been designed as a remote desk exercise and may take up to approximately three hours.

If you are energized by leading people, raising the bar for design quality, and staying connected to the work itself, this role offers a strong platform to make an impact.
