Pay Range: $21 - $28 per hour

Job Summary:
The Tax Preparer is responsible for accurately preparing and timely filing tax returns, while ensuring adequate backup support and resolving tax-related issues.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Accurately prepare federal, state, and local tax returns and extensions - individual, corporate, partnership, and trust returns.
- Review tax information supplied by clients and request open items, as needed.
- Perform tax research.
- Manage assignments and ensure tasks are completed timely and accurately. Escalate issues to manager as needed for resolution.
- Become familiar with the firm’s policies and procedures.
- Ensure the confidentiality of each client by following all company procedures regarding information handling
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of tax laws, tax concepts, and familiarity with the form 1040 and all schedules.
- Annual tax update or other relevant continuing education.
- Willingness to utilize audio/visual tools to communicate with customers.
- Strong problem solving and research skills, and the ability to quickly use online resources to find answers.
- Well-developed technical troubleshooting skills.
- Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with clients and team members.
Education, Experience, and Licensing:
- Minimum of two years of professional tax preparation experience. Business tax preparation experience is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- Experience with tax preparation software.
- PTIN is a plus but not required.
- EA or CPA a plus but not required.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer.
- This is an in-office position.
