Compliance and Operations Coordinator

D.B. McKenna & Co., Inc. is a regional broker-dealer. Together with our affiliated investment advisory firm, Bennington Financial Planning Group, we serve the investment and financial planning needs of our clients from our office at 207 West Main St in Bennington, Vermont. We are adding a Compliance & Operations Coordinator to run the day-to-day execution of our compliance program and keep our office operations moving.

You will work closely with our outside compliance consulting firm, which handles the technical regulatory work: written supervisory procedures, the AML manual, Form ADV filings, annual compliance reviews and exam preparation. You will not be building a compliance program from scratch or drafting complex regulatory documents on your own. Your focus is daily execution, coordination, and being a steady, present point of contact for the team. You will report to our Managing Partner / Chief Compliance Officer and be mentored during your first months by our current compliance lead.

What you'll do

• Own the daily compliance and operations tasks: cash movements, funds in and out, ongoing internal audit procedures, and related recordkeeping

• Coordinate with our outside compliance firm on filings, annual reviews, procedure and AML updates, and exam preparation. You are our internal point of contact, not the drafter of those documents

• Work alongside our operations assistant, directing compliance-project work and building general knowledge of operations

• Maintain licensing records and continuing education tracking for registered representatives and investment adviser representatives

• Support new account opening documentation and account maintenance

• Join a regular compliance meeting with firm leadership

• Over time, take on increasing independent ownership of the compliance program as trust and experience build

What we're looking for

• Experience in compliance, operations, administration or a similar detail-driven role. Experience at a broker-dealer, RIA or other regulated financial firm is a plus but not required

• Willingness to learn the regulatory side of a broker-dealer and RIA

• Strong organizational skills and comfort with detail-heavy, process-driven work

• A good communicator who works well alongside colleagues and likes helping others learn

• Trustworthy with confidential client, firm and employee information

• Comfortable coordinating with an outside consulting firm as part of your regular workflow

Nice to have

• Series 7, 24 and/or 65/66 licensing, or willingness to pursue it

What success looks like in your first year

• Daily operations run reliably and compliance recordkeeping is consistently audit-ready

• You have a strong working relationship with our outside compliance firm and know when to loop them in and when to handle something directly

• Our leadership team has real confidence handing you increasing responsibility for the compliance program

Pay: $50,000 to $65,000 per year, salaried, depending on experience.

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with a 30-minute lunch. On-site in Bennington, VT.
