Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships by understanding their needs, providing technical solutions, and delivering exceptional services, acting as a primary point of contact for clients including addressing inquiries, concerns, and providing project updates
- Work closely with interdisciplinary teams that include an array of stakeholders’ requests, concerns, and needs to create actionable plans for continuous improvement in client environments
- Evaluate, monitor, and advise on large commercial HVAC systems including chiller plants, DX and chilled water air handling systems, fan coils, VAV units and other HVAC equipment commonly used in commercial office buildings and data centers
- Apply HVAC mechanical engineering and building automation experience to collect and analyze building system data and offer expert insights and recommendations to enhance system efficiency, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness
- Proactively anticipate client needs, identify risks/blockers to project success, and demonstrate a solution-oriented approach to challenging situations
- Take ownership of relevant project scope – participate in gameplan/backlog development with appropriate client stakeholders, adapt action plans as needed, and provide oversight for junior engineers completing scope work
- Stay current with industry trends, codes, and best practices in mechanical engineering
- Additional contributions as assigned
Education and Licensure
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Washington and/or California Professional Engineers (PE) License
Minimum Qualifications
- Proven professionalism and commitment to DB’s guiding values: being always curious, continually learning, taking ownership of individual and team performance, delivering high quality, productive contributions and being an effective, respectful communicator and collaborator with both clients and co-workers
- Excellent project management and problem-solving skills, meeting scheduled deadlines and budget requirements
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build and maintain client relationships.
- 3 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a strong background in building infrastructure projects as well as working with Commercial HVAC systems and building automation systems.
- Strong proficiency in data analytics and data visualization with experience using SQL and Power BI to manage HVAC system configurations, create data storage repositories and perform Fault Detection Analysis for large commercial campuses.
- Ability to master new applications and methods for data analysis, and incorporate them into projects
- Demonstrated leadership and mentorship capabilities for co-workers and less experienced team members.
- Proficient in Excel (pivot charts, data normalization, basic calculations, charts/graphs)
- Ability to work onsite at client facilities 3-5 days per week.
Preferred or Bonus Qualifications
- Familiarity and experience with SMART building design initiatives
- US Citizenship for client sites with citizenship requirements
Compensation
- Salary: $90,000 - $140,000 depending on experience and qualifications
