Job Overview:
The Facilities Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of maintenance and repair for the entire waterpark property—including buildings, grounds, dry attractions, and aquatic systems. This position ensures the park’s facilities are maintained in a safe, operational, and visually appealing condition at all times, with a strong focus on waterpark maintenance, water quality management, and compliance with local and state regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintenance & Operations:
- Oversee the maintenance, repair, and inspection of all waterpark attractions, including water slides, pools, splash pads, and water play structures.
- Manage upkeep and repair of all dry attractions, buildings, and facility structures, ensuring all areas are safe, functional, and well-maintained.
- Oversee grounds and land improvements, including landscaping, walkways, lighting, fencing, and general park appearance.
- Ensure all mechanical systems—including pumps, filtration, heating, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing—are regularly serviced and functioning properly.
- Coordinate and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all park assets to ensure minimal downtime and consistent safe operation.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, structural, and plumbing issues promptly to minimize guest impact and maintain seamless operations.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, inspection reports, and compliance records for all park systems and equipment.
- Team Leadership & Supervision:
- Supervise and manage a team of maintenance staff responsible for the upkeep of all park facilities, including water attractions, dry attractions, buildings, and grounds.
- Ensure all team members are properly trained, equipped, and certified to perform maintenance and repair tasks safely and effectively.
- Delegate and oversee daily work assignments, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently, on schedule, and to a high standard of quality.
- Provide ongoing training and mentorship on mechanical systems, building maintenance, safety protocols, and emergency response procedures.
- Monitor team performance, provide constructive feedback, and conduct regular performance evaluations to support staff growth and accountability.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Ensure all attractions, buildings, and facilities comply with local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations.
- Lead and document daily safety inspections across the entire property—including water attractions, dry rides, mechanical systems, and structural areas.
- Collaborate with the park’s safety team to maintain compliance with water quality standards, chemical balance, and sanitation protocols.
- Enforce strict safety procedures for staff and guests, promoting a culture of safety and risk awareness.
- Prepare for and actively participate in health, safety, and regulatory inspections conducted by local or state agencies.
- Budgeting & Inventory Management:
- Develop and manage the maintenance department’s annual budget, ensuring efficient use of resources across all facilities and systems.
- Maintain accurate inventory of maintenance supplies, tools, and replacement parts for both water and dry attractions, as well as building and grounds upkeep.
- Source and purchase parts, materials, and equipment as needed, minimizing downtime and ensuring continuity of park operations.
- Track expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining high maintenance standards.
- Guest Experience & Facility Maintenance:
- Ensure all park facilities—including water attractions, dry rides, buildings, restrooms, locker rooms, and landscaping—are maintained to the highest standards of safety, cleanliness, and presentation.
- Oversee land and property improvements, including landscaping, lighting, fencing, pathways, and signage, to enhance the overall guest experience.
- Work collaboratively with operations, guest services, and safety departments to address guest concerns or maintenance-related issues promptly.
- Conduct regular inspections to identify and resolve maintenance needs before they impact operations or guest satisfaction.
- Emergency Preparedness & Response:
- Lead and coordinate the maintenance team’s response to emergencies such as mechanical failures, power outages, or facility damage.
- Ensure staff are trained and equipped to respond quickly and safely to emergency situations.
- Oversee emergency repairs and corrective actions to minimize downtime and operational disruptions.
- Participate in the creation and ongoing review of the park’s emergency response procedures.
- Equipment & Facility Improvements:
- Identify opportunities for improvements or upgrades across all park systems, including water attractions, dry rides, buildings, and landscaped areas.
- Plan, coordinate, and oversee capital improvement and renovation projects in collaboration with management and external contractors.
- Assist with installation, testing, and commissioning of new attractions, mechanical systems, or facility features to ensure proper integration and operation.
- Maintain records of all improvement projects and ensure all work meets safety and regulatory standards.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in facility maintenance, with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role in an amusement park, waterpark, or similar environment.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and water treatment systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
- Experience with preventive maintenance programs and troubleshooting complex systems.
- Knowledge of safety protocols, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices for waterparks.
- Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle emergency situations effectively.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with staff, vendors, and guests.
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting and moving heavy equipment, working at heights, and working in confined spaces.
Physical Requirements:
