Job Summary:
The Medical Receptionist is the first point of contact for patients in a doctor’s office. This role is responsible for providing excellent customer service, managing front desk operations, scheduling appointments, and ensuring accurate patient information is collected and maintained.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet patients and visitors in a professional and friendly manner
- Answer phone calls, schedule appointments, and manage calendars for providers
- Check patients in and out, verifying personal and insurance information
- Collect co-pays, balances, and process payments
- Maintain and update patient records in electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence (calls, emails, faxes)
- Coordinate with medical staff to ensure smooth patient flow
- Verify insurance eligibility and obtain necessary authorizations when required
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming front office environment
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality standards
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in a medical office or customer service role preferred
- Basic knowledge of medical terminology and office procedures
- Familiarity with EHR systems and scheduling software
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment
- Attention to detail and organizational skills
