The Supply Technician mission is critical to provide support to Prosthetic and Sensory Aids Services (PSAS) by ensuring that appropriate Prosthetic stock appliances and devices are available to our outpatient Veterans. The primary purpose of this position ensures that PSAS maintains accurate levels of stock so that the department can provide appropriate devices timely as determined by the Supervisory Prosthetic Representative.
Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-5 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-4. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
- Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-4 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: supplies and material to clinical and/or administrative areas of a facility; scanning, bar-coding, receiving, storing and distributing supplies, instruments and other material; pulling stock, replenishing stock and maintaining records on stock levels; monitoring expiration dates; cleaning assigned areas in accordance with regulations and policy; utilizing an automated system to maintain inventory; and answers customer questions regarding supplies and materials.. OR,
- Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have 4 years above high school in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education was obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR,
- Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond post high school education as described above that demonstrates my ability to perform the duties of this position. For the GS-05, only education in excess of 60 semester hours (2 years) is creditable. (Transcripts required).
Responsibilities:
Duties includes but are not limited:- Receives and analyzes computer consults/prescriptions for stock items, and medical equipment.
- Dispenses stock items to Veterans at Prosthetics front desk.
- Collaborates with Supply Chain Management to maintain adequate stock without creating excess to ensure patient care is not disrupted.
- Initiating Durable Medical Equipment (DME) deliveries with the off site vendor, and completing routine simplified purchases using DALC.
- Operation of computer equipment, which includes scanners, printers, bar code readers and attachments, etc.
- Initiating action on returns for credit, as well as exchanging or transfer inventory items.
- Monitoring, and controlling operations during processing and assuring prompt action in response to programmed instructions, equipment malfunction and unscheduled halts.
- Additional duties as assigned.
