The Materials Handler will ensure that new and existing furniture, signage, accessory items, equipment, supplies, and any other materials related to the proper function of the Medical Center, be moved and managed and to assist and facilitate Interior Design functions as needed.
EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume. SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Physical Requirements: Incumbent must be able, with limited oral or written instructions, to work safely in lifting and moving light to heavy objects from one location to another. Incumbent must be able to lift objects weighting up to 100 pounds and with more frequency objects weighing up to 70 pounds. May have to push heavy objects from one location to another. Incumbent will be subjected to continual standing, bending, stooping, lifting, and reaching.
Working Conditions: Due to nature of work, incumbent may occasionally have to work outdoors in bad weather while loading, and delivering. Indoor working conditions may be dirty and dusty. She/he is subject to a chance of injury including severe cuts, strained back, and other injuries normally associated with warehouse tasks. Incumbent works at times in hazardous areas of construction or exposure in patient care areas requiring special safety measures.

Responsibilities:
Duties include:- Responsible for Loading, unloading, and stocking of items necessary to the proper function of the Medical Center campus.
- Lifts items weighing up to 100 pounds and with more frequency carrying objects weighing up to 70 pounds.
- Establishing schedules by receiving general instructions from Supervisor.
- Selecting appropriate storage locations.
- Loads, unloads, assembles or disassembles.
- Delivering items as directed to the authorized personnel at specific locations either on foot or driving a truck or other vehicles, as required.
- Comparing and verifying quantities of incoming items with those shown on receiving documents.
- Able to push heavy objects from one location to another.
- Incumbent will be subject to continual standing, bending, stooping, lifting, and reaching.
- Establishing work load priorities for efficient use of time and vehicles. Acknowledging receipt of requests and contacting requestor about moving date, time and other pertinent information.
- Work is organized independently and only spot checked by the Supervisor.
- Determine storage problems created by specific conditions such as accessibility, moisture, potential damage due to weight or disturbance and other possible vulnerability.
