Summary:
Serves as Technical Supervisor and General Supervisor for the in-house moderate complexity laboratory in accordance with CLIA regulations (42 CFR §493). Responsible for supervisory oversight, quality management, regulatory compliance, and technical performance of laboratory testing. Ensures accurate specimen processing, equipment maintenance, quality control, and compliance with OSHA, and HIPAA standards. Manages laboratory operations to ensure clinical and operational standards are met and quality patient care is provided.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides supervision and oversight of laboratory operations during laboratory hours, including phone, video, or onsite availability as required.
- Supervises the collection, preparation, and evaluation of specimens and the technical performance of all approved laboratory testing.
- Performs laboratory testing, including moderate complexity testing and AutoUA, ensuring accuracy and precision in accordance with regulatory standards.
- Ensures compliance with CLIA, COLA, OSHA, HIPAA, and all federal and state laboratory regulations.
- Maintains CLIA certification and participates in inspections, audits, and licensing requirements.
- Maintains laboratory quality management plan and participates in quality improvement activities.
- Develops, reviews, and maintains laboratory standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Oversees equipment maintenance and reviews maintenance and quality control logs.
- Conducts periodic review of specimen records, test results, instrument logs, and technical analyses.
- Identifies problems affecting test performance or safety and initiates corrective action.
- Troubleshoots laboratory instruments, assays, and technical issues.
- Ensures accurate documentation for all laboratory equipment, testing, and quality control.
- Maintains laboratory safety standards and ensures OSHA compliance and cleanliness.
- Maintains inventory and proper control of laboratory supplies.
- Assists in administrative functions of the laboratory as needed.
- Supports recruitment, training, competency evaluation, and ongoing education of laboratory staff.
- Develops and coordinates training, onboarding, and in-service education for laboratory personnel.
- Communicates effectively with physicians, management, and staff regarding laboratory operations.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient information and ensures HIPAA compliance.
- Recognizes abnormal or unusual results and notifies appropriate provider through EMR.
- Maintains organized and accurate laboratory records.
- Uses MS Office, laboratory software, and quality control applications proficiently.
- Works efficiently in a fast-paced environment and manages multiple assignments.
- Adapts to workflow changes and meets required deadlines.
- Supports patient satisfaction and quality service within the office.
- Performs random evaluations and reviews as directed by the Lab Director.
- Participates in all required quality management and inspection activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned in accordance with consultation agreement.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- This position supervises all laboratory staff within the location assigned
Required Education and/ or Experience:
- High School Diploma required
- Bachelor’s Degree in a science-related field preferred
- Minimum 2 years of healthcare experience (urology experience preferred)
- Minimum 2 years of experience in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science
- Documented competency in moderate complexity laboratory testing
- Demonstrated competency in moderate complexity testing, including urinalysis/AutoUA
- Basic understanding of billing and coding processes
General Skill Requirements:
- Excellent oral and written communication
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Experience working with electronic medical record
- Attendance and punctuality are essential requirements of this position to provide excellent customer service to both our internal and external stakeholders.
Physical/ Mental Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the team member is regularly required to use hands to assist patients, reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The team member frequently is required to stand, walk, and sit. This position is normally required to carry 5-10 pounds a distance up to four (4) feet. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
