Role Description The Body Shop Technician is a full-time, on-site role based in Dayton, OH. This position is responsible for performing collision repair and refinishing work, including assessing damage, disassembling and reassembling vehicle components, repairing or replacing panels, and ensuring proper alignment and fit. Daily responsibilities include using appropriate tools and equipment safely, maintaining a clean and organized work area, following repair orders and quality guidelines, and collaborating with service advisors and other team members to meet deadlines. The role also involves communicating repair needs, documenting work performed, and adhering to all safety and environmental regulations.
Qualifications
- Ability to perform body repair tasks, including dent removal, panel replacement, frame or structural repairs, welding, and alignment using appropriate tools and equipment.
- Knowledge of automotive materials, parts, and repair methods, and ability to use frame machine, read and follow repair orders, estimates, and technical instructions.
- Understanding of workplace safety practices, including proper use of personal protective equipment, safe handling of chemicals, and compliance with environmental regulations.
- Strong attention to detail, time management, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with supervisors, teammates, and service staff; ability to provide clear updates on repair status.
- Previous experience as a body shop or collision repair technician preferred; relevant vocational training or certifications in auto body repair are a plus.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate vehicles safely within the shop and lot.
