Role Description
This is a full-time on-site position for the Safety and Protective Services Officer, located in Dayton, OH. The role involves ensuring the safety and security of library patrons, staff, and property. Responsibilities include conducting regular patrols, implementing and enforcing safety policies, monitoring for suspicious activity, and responding swiftly to incidents. The officer will also engage with the public in a professional manner to provide a safe environment conducive to learning and community engagement. This position may also require collaboration with local law enforcement and staff training on emergency and safety procedures.
Qualifications
- Safety and protective services skills, including knowledge of professional security protocols and emergency response practices
- Written and verbal communication skills, critical thinking, and the ability to maintain calm under pressure
- Interpersonal skills to interact respectfully with diverse groups and de-escalate conflict situations
- Basic computer and reporting skills to document incidents and maintain accurate records
