PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Executive specified craft in the performance of general maintenance and warehouse operations.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education/Certification

High school diploma or GED
Valid Texas driver’s license

 

Special Knowledge/Skills


Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Knowledge of basic routine maintenance and warehouse procedures
Must be dependable and punctual
Must possess the ability to properly lift, from floor to shoulder level and carry at least 80 pounds
Ability to operate hand and power tools
Ability to communicate effectively (verbally)
Ability to work independently

 

Experience


One years’ experience in general building maintenance or warehouse operations

 

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

 

Facilities Laundry and Deliveries
1. Pick up DHS and WWJH custodial laundry daily. Wash, dry and return to respective campuses by 2:30 pm daily.
2. Pick up Richter, SFA, Colbert, Kimmie Brown, and NAEC custodial laundry twice per week. Return to campuses before evening shift arrives.
3. Keep track of detergent inventory and place orders as needed.
4. Pull custodial supply orders through FMX and prepare for delivery.
5. Assist with custodial supply deliveries as needed.
6. Unload freight vehicles for food service, maintenance, and curriculum departments using forklift/pallet jacks.
7. Maintain maintenance/custodial inventories of critical supplies. Discard items properly that are no longer needed.
8. Coordinate with curriculum staff the disbursement of books from the warehouse to different campuses.
9. Perform minor repairs on maintenance equipment and vehicles.
10. Assemble district furniture when necessary in the warehouse and then deliver to respective campus or facilities.
11. Develop a good understanding of the FMX work order/inventory system and become proficient in its use.
12. Audit FMX inventory compared to actual inventory on a monthly basis.
13. Assist with relocation of furnishings, such as desks, tables, chairs, filing cabinets, etc.
14. Move, install, assemble, and repair school furniture and playground equipment as needed.
15. Assist with laundry for WWJH athletics as needed.
16. Make sure warehouse is clean. Pallets and trash removed.
17. Make sure forklift/pallet jacks are well maintained and ready for use.

Driving
18. Operate light truck to transport furniture and equipment throughout district.
Safety
19. Must attend all safety meetings.
20. Operate equipment and use tools according to established safety procedures.
21. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc.
22. Correct unsafe conditions in work areas and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately.
23. Maintain tools and equipment and perform preventive maintenance as required.
Other

24. Report to the supervisor promptly any accident or illness

25. Attendance is an essential job function

26. Other duties as assigned by administration.

27. Promote, participate, and facilitate in a teamwork center manner.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

None

EQUIPMENT USED:

Power tools (drill, saw, etc.), hand tools, forklift, pallet jack. Light truck or van.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors
Continual walking and standing; frequent heavy lifting and carrying; climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching. Exposure to extreme temperatures, dust, fumes, and odors, and excessive noises. Exposure to mechanical, electrical, and chemical hazards. Work around moving objects or vehicles. Work outside and inside.

Salary : $16 - $19
