Job Summary:
We are seeking a friendly, detail-oriented Front Desk Patient Services Representative to join our dermatology practice. The ideal candidate has prior experience in a medical office setting, strong customer service skills, and working knowledge of Availity for insurance verification and eligibility. This role is essential in creating a positive first impression and ensuring smooth patient flow and accurate insurance processing.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet patients professionally and warmly, in person and by phone
- Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits using Availity and payer portals
- Perform insurance verification, referrals, and prior authorization checks as needed
- Collect and post copays, deductibles, and outstanding balances
- Accurately enter and update patient demographics and insurance information in the EHR
- Communicate insurance and financial responsibilities clearly to patients
- Coordinate with clinical and billing staff to resolve insurance or scheduling issues
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality at all times
Required Qualifications:
- Previous front desk experience in a medical office (dermatology preferred)
- Hands-on experience using Availity for insurance verification and eligibility
- Strong knowledge of medical insurance plans, copays, deductibles, and referrals
- Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking skills
- Proficiency with EHR/PM systems and basic computer applications
- Professional appearance and patient-centered attitude
Preferred Qualifications:
- Dermatology practice experience
- Familiarity with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance plans
- Experience with prior authorizations and referrals
- Bilingual (a plus, not required)
