Description:
The Elementary STEM teacher will deliver the Project Lead the Way module curriculum, providing project-based learning experiences for K–6th grade students that meet the needs of 21st-century learners.
Spiritual Responsibilities
Affirm that he/she is a “born again” Christian who has received Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord (John 3:3, 1 Peter 1:23)
Give testimony that he/she has a sense of God’s calling to teach at Dayspring Christian Academy for the contracted school year (Romans 12:6-8)
Demonstrate by precept and example the highest Christian virtue and personal integrity, serving as a Christian role model, both in and out of school, to students (Luke 6:40), parents, fellow staff members, and others (Colossians 3:17; Titus 2:7-8; 1 Thessalonians 5:18, 22-23; 1 Timothy 4:12)
Faithfully fellowship at a local church whose teachings are in agreement with the school’s Statement of Faith
General Responsibilities
Deliver Project Lead the Way module curriculum through project-based, hands-on learning experiences for K–6 students
Design and facilitate learning that incorporates the engineering design process and real-world problem solving
Provide integrated instruction across STEM disciplines, including computer science, engineering, and biomedical science
Support students in applying math and English Language Arts (ELA) skills within STEM learning aligned to standards
Foster the 4 C’s: communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity
Use a variety of instructional strategies, technologies, and performance-based assessments to support student learning
Maintain an engaging, well-managed classroom environment that promotes active participation and innovation
Collaborate with administrators and staff to develop, implement, and evaluate STEM initiatives and curriculum
Stay current with STEM education research and best practices through ongoing professional development
Select and utilize resources that enhance student learning and program effectiveness
Integrate biblical principles and the Christian philosophy of education throughout instruction and activities
Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff regarding student progress and needs
Maintain accurate records of attendance and student performance
Build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues
Participate in school meetings, professional development, and parent-teacher conferences
Plan and participate in a spring STEM Night that showcases excellence in the STEM program and curriculum, highlighting student learning and achievement
Support school programs, policies, and events, including extracurricular activities when possible
Prepare lesson plans and materials for substitute teachers as needed
Follow school procedures and address conflicts and challenges with professionalism and a collaborative mindset
Perform additional duties as assigned by administration
Special Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education required; Master’s degree preferred
STEM endorsement or Master’s degree in a related field preferred, but not required
State teaching certification preferred, but not required
Must be ACSI certified or willing and able to obtain ACSI certification
Demonstrated knowledge of Colorado State Standards and applicable STEM learning standards
Proven ability to apply science and/or math content knowledge and effectively integrate technology
Strong pedagogical knowledge and content expertise
Proven ability to work collaboratively and effectively with colleagues
Effective communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
Demonstrated excellence in both oral and written communication
Commitment to professionalism, consistently representing the elementary school with excellence in all interactions with students, families, staff, and the broader community
