What are the responsibilities and job description for the Group Fitness Instructor (Strength, Cycling, Yoga and Pilates) position at Daymaker Fitness + Wellness Studios?
DAYMAKER COACH (all modalities: Strength, Ride, Yoga and Pilates)
Better Days Begin Here.
At Daymaker, we believe movement has the power to change more than your body: it can change your day.
We're building something different in New Hampshire's Lakes Region: an integrated fitness and wellness studio where strength, cycling, yoga, and Pilates work together as one thoughtfully designed system. Every detail, from our programming to our hospitality, is intentional.
Our coaches don't simply lead workouts.
They create experiences.
They build confidence.
They develop relationships.
They help people become stronger - not only physically, but through consistency, encouragement, and community.
We're looking for coaches who are passionate about their craft, committed to continual growth, and excited to help build something truly special from the very beginning.
Your Purpose
Your responsibility is to deliver a safe, challenging, welcoming, and memorable experience every time someone walks into your studio.
The workout matters. The connection matters even more.
Every member should leave feeling stronger than when they arrived - in body, in confidence, or simply because someone knew their name.
What You'll Do
Deliver Exceptional Coaching
- Lead safe, engaging, and thoughtfully programmed classes that reflect Daymaker's standards.
- Create an environment where beginners feel welcome and experienced members continue to be challenged.
- Offer modifications and progressions confidently.
- Coach the room, not just the front row.
- Balance motivation with education, helping members build confidence and consistency.
- Arrive fully prepared, energized, and ready to create an exceptional experience.
Build Relationships
- Learn members' names, goals, and milestones.
- Welcome new members and help them feel comfortable before class.
- Stay after class to answer questions, celebrate wins, and build relationships.
- Help foster a community where every member feels seen, encouraged, and valued.
Protect the Experience
- Arrive early and be fully prepared before members begin arriving.
- Start and end classes on time.
- Follow Daymaker programming, coaching standards, and operational procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe studio.
- Communicate proactively with leadership regarding maintenance needs, scheduling, or member concerns.
- Arrange qualified substitutes whenever possible if you cannot teach an assigned class.
Represent the Brand
- Serve as an ambassador for Daymaker both inside and outside the studio.
- Support studio events, community partnerships, and special programming when possible.
- Share genuine enthusiasm for the Daymaker mission through authentic engagement with our community and social media.
Who Thrives at Daymaker
This role may be a great fit if you...
- Believe coaching is about people, not performance.
- Care as much about the member in the back row as the one in the front.
- Find joy in helping others discover what they're capable of.
- Continue learning because you believe your members deserve your very best.
- Welcome feedback and actively seek opportunities to improve.
- Lead with humility, professionalism, and kindness.
- Take ownership without waiting to be asked.
- Believe consistency creates trust.
- Care deeply about the experience every member has from the moment they arrive until the moment they leave.
This role may not be the best fit if you...
- See coaching primarily as a performance or opportunity to build a personal following.
- Prefer doing things your own way rather than contributing to a shared standard.
- Resist feedback or ongoing education.
- Frequently cancel or seek substitutes for scheduled classes.
- Believe your responsibilities begin when class starts and end when class finishes.
- Aren't excited to contribute to a collaborative team culture.
Qualifications
We're looking for exceptional coaches, not simply experienced instructors.
Preferred qualifications include:
- Current certification appropriate for the modality you teach.
- Current CPR/AED certification.
- Strong understanding of movement mechanics, safety, and appropriate modifications.
- Excellent communication skills and professional presence.
- Ability to confidently coach participants of varying experience levels.
Teaching experience is welcomed but not required. Passion, professionalism, coachability, and a genuine commitment to people matter most.
Physical Requirements
Coaching at Daymaker is an active, hands-on role. Coaches must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation, including:
- Standing, walking, bending, reaching, and moving throughout the studio for the duration of a class and surrounding setup and reset periods.
- Demonstrating movements and exercises appropriate to the modality being taught.
- Setting up, adjusting, cleaning, and returning equipment and studio supplies.
- Lifting, carrying, pushing, or moving equipment and other items weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Responding quickly and appropriately when member safety or studio conditions require assistance.
What We Offer
- Competitive per-class compensation with additional performance-based compensation opportunities
- Complimentary Daymaker membership
- Employee retail discount
- Paid onboarding and training
- Ongoing mentorship and continuing education opportunities
- Opportunities for leadership and career growth as Daymaker expands
Our Commitment to Coach Development
We believe exceptional coaching doesn't happen by accident.
It happens through mentorship, feedback, education, and practice.
Daymaker is committed to developing coaches, not just hiring them.
Our coaches receive ongoing mentorship, opportunities for continuing education, regular feedback, and the chance to learn alongside experienced industry leaders. As we grow, we intend to promote from within whenever possible, creating pathways into Lead Coach, Coach Mentor, Programming, Training, and Studio Leadership roles.
If you read this and thought, "This sounds like the kind of team I've been looking for," we'd love to hear your story.
