Day & Zimmermann is currently accepting resumes for consideration for a Timekeeper to support our project site in Clarksburg, WV.
As the Timekeeper, here’s the work you’ll do:
Time & Attendance
- Reconciling discrepancies between timesheets and access/badge records
- Managing overtime tracking and ensuring compliance with labor agreements or union rules
- Coordinating with foremen/supervisors to verify daily crew counts
- Tracking employee absences, tardiness, and leave
Badging & Access Control
- Issuing, replacing, and deactivating site access badges
- Maintaining a log of all personnel on site (including subcontractors and visitors)
Payroll Support
- Coding hours to correct cost codes, work breakdown structures (WBS), or job phases
- Submitting payroll reports
- Processing I-9’s
- Liaising with the home office or third-party payroll processor
- Supporting audits of labor records
Compliance & Reporting
- Maintaining EEO and workforce utilization reports if required by contract
- Tracking apprentice-to-journeyman ratios for union or government contracts
- Generating daily/weekly manpower reports for project management
- Maintaining documentation for labor compliance audits
Administrative Support
- Onboarding new hires — collecting required documentation (I-9, safety certifications, etc.)
- Creating new hire setups and terminations
- Filing and maintaining organized labor records
This position is right for you if you have these skills:
- Proficiency in Excel for reporting and reconciliation
- Knowledge of union labor agreements and multi-craft payroll rules if applicable
- Experience with access control or badging systems
- Strong organizational skills for managing high volumes of daily records
- Ability to work under deadline pressure
- Communication skills for working with foremen, crews, subcontractors, and the home office
And if you have these Minimum Requirements:
- Associate’s degree in a related field of study or equivalent years of relevant work experience in a construction environment.
- Prior payroll, timekeeping, or accounting experience preferred, with experience supporting a large workforce highly desirable.
- Experience with construction-specific time/payroll software (Connex)
- Knowledge of union labor agreements and multi-craft payroll rules is preferred
In compliance with this state’s pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $30,000 - $65,000. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of union fringes).
