Position Description: The Tier 1 Refrigeration Apprentice learns the foundational principles of commercial refrigeration, assisting senior technicians in maintenance, diagnostics, and repair of refrigeration systems. Apprentices develop basic technical skills, including electrical readings, refrigerant handling awareness, and use of diagnostic tools.Key Learning Areas:Basic refrigeration cycle and system componentsVoltage and amperage readingProper use of multi-meters and manifold gaugesBasic electrical and mechanical conceptsSafety protocols and PPE usagePreventative maintenance and cleaning proceduresIdentifying refrigeration components and refrigerant typesProfessional work habits and customer interactionRole Expectations:Assist senior technicians on service calls and installationsMaintain tools, work areas, and vehicles in clean, safe conditionFollow all company safety policies and proceduresDocument service activities using company systemsDemonstrate reliability, initiative, and a willingness to learnDevelopment Path:Upon successful completion of Tier 1 training and testing, apprentices advance to Tier 2, focusing on servicing light commercial and self-contained refrigeration systems.Requirements: Minimum age of 18 years old High school diploma or equivalent.
