Day Kimball Health is hiring for a Per Diem Registered Nurse to join our Maternal Child Health department in Putnam, CT! Per Diem Requirement: Per diem employees are expected to work a minimum of 32 hours per month. Registered Nurse (RN) Benefits Summary:

- Accountable for planning, implementing, evaluating, and communicating all phases of nursing care for assigned patients in our Maternal Child Health Unit.
- Assesses the health status of patients/families by means of comprehensive health history and physical examination
- Initiates selected therapeutic and diagnostic procedures, consultations, and laboratory examination, interprets findings, and alters plan of care according to collaborative practice agreement and protocols in designated area
- Educates and counsels in the areas of health promotion, maintenance, disease prevention, and management of acute/chronic illnesses
- Documents findings and plan of care in the patient's medical record
- Consults with physician per established Day Kimball Hospital policy
- Intervenes to provide a safe environment and evaluates effectiveness of intervention for patients
- Recognizes unsafe and life-threatening situations and how to intervene appropriately
- Demonstrates skills in critical thinking, effective communication, organizational skills, problem solving, and ability to make appropriate independent decisions
- Working knowledge of applicable Standards of Practice
- Demonstrates compassionate customer service and ability to meet the needs and expectations of patients and health care colleagues
- Solid foundation in evaluating plans of care and reformulating as necessary
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing is required
- Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the state of Connecticut is required
- Labor and Delivery experience preferred
- American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR certification or equivalent is required; if not currently certified, must obtain within three (3) months of employment
- American Academy of Pediatrics Neonatal Resuscitation certification is required within three (3) months of employment
- Additional specialty certification/training as required by the work area
