- Oversees the day-to-day operation of the total joint program.
- Active member of the Joint Academy Committee.
- Updates policies and procedures as needed.
- Updates patient/family education material as needed.
- Coordinates the care of total joint patients.
- Actively completes the pre-op exam along with all needed diagnostics/labs and consults. Works closely with Anesthesia.
- Completes orders for post-op care as needed.
- Completes discharge orders and instructions as needed.
- Works with nursing staff, Case Management and physicians to ensure an efficient and timely discharge process.
- Validates that goals are met by each patient.
- Educates staff about all and any changes to the process of caring for ortho patients.
- Licensed and currently registered in the State of Connecticut as a Registered Nurse and APRN required.
- Preparation in nursing management preferred.
- Baccalaureate degree required; Master’s degree required.
- Seven years current nursing experience preferred.
- Minimum of two years' experience in a leadership position preferred.
