What Youll Do:
- Coordinates the music therapy treatment program with other therapy programs treatment provided by other treatment team members
- Develops a general music education program for residents/patients
- Maintains a music library, and necessary materials, equipment, and supplies
- As a member of the treatment team, participates in the formulation of interdisciplinary treatment plans
- Provides in-service training for other staff members
- Maintains records and prepares reports and correspondence related to the work
- Maintains regular, predictable, consistent attendance and is flexible to meet the needs of the department
Qualifications:
- Board certified as a music therapist, if required by state law
- Holds a professional license in music therapy, if required by state law.
- Knowledge of musical theory, and music instruction methods
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of music therapy
- Ability to assess the effectiveness of a therapeutic music program
- Ability to read music and play a musical instrument, make simple musical arrangements, test and classify voices and direct vocal and instrumental ensembles
- Valid drivers license with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state requirements.
