Duties

• Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain HVAC systems including air conditioning units, boilers, refrigeration equipment, and building automation systems.
• Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and HVAC design plans to accurately diagnose issues.
• Perform electrical diagnostics using tools such as ohmmeters and multimeters to identify faults within complex electrical systems.
• Conduct plumbing tasks related to HVAC systems, including refrigerant line repairs and drainage troubleshooting.
• Utilize welding and mechanical repair skills for equipment fabrication or component replacement when necessary.
• Diagnose refrigerant leaks, perform recharges in HVAC/R (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning/ Refrigeration) units, including ammonia refrigeration systems.
• Maintain compliance with EPA regulations by handling refrigerants responsibly and completing necessary certifications.
• Operate field service vehicles safely while adhering to all traffic laws as a licensed driver.
• Support property maintenance tasks that enhance building comfort and efficiency through proactive system inspections and repairs.
• Collaborate with team members on HVAC system upgrades or installations involving HVAC design principles and building automation integration.

Experience

• Proven construction experience with mechanical systems installation or repair projects.
• Service technician experience in HVAC or refrigeration environments demonstrating troubleshooting expertise.
• Familiarity with schematics, wiring diagrams, and HVAC design plans for accurate diagnostics and repairs.
• Knowledge of plumbing, electrical diagnostics, refrigeration systems—including ammonia refrigeration—and boiler operation.
• Mechanical knowledge covering equipment repair, welding techniques, and mechanical systems troubleshooting.
• Experience working with building automation systems (BAS) for climate control management.
• Valid EPA certification for refrigerant handling; additional certifications such as HVAC/R or appliance repair are advantageous.
• Field service experience in property maintenance or appliance repair roles is highly desirable.
• Ability to use diagnostic tools such as ohmmeters effectively; experience with ammonia refrigeration systems is a plus.
• Strong mechanical skills complemented by a proactive approach to maintenance and equipment repair tasks.
