Operations Manager

Job Summary:

The Operations Manager oversees the day-to-day operations and administrative processes of their designated terminal. This position is responsible for defining and maintaining administrative procedures while providing full support to the corporate office. This role is involved in solving higher-level issues in order to maintain a strong working relationship with customers. The Operations Manager is tasked with creating a positive public image for the terminal and Davis Trucking as a whole.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Warehouse workers
• Drivers

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Coordinate workflow, resolve staff questions, and ensure quality control
• Oversee staffing and onboarding processes
• Assist corporate office with budgeting for general office equipment and supplies, inventory control, and administration of human resource programs
• Ensure driver coverage is secured for daily routes
• Implement specific customer requirements, such as customized daily reports and checklists
• Ensure proper maintenance and repair of equipment other than computers (i.e. check on trucks regularly, make sure they are in good condition both aesthetically and functionality)
• Coordinate materials for billing to be sent to the corporate office., ensure documents are complete and scanned into system within 5 days of service completion
• Provide backup support for Terminal Manager: document immediate problems; conduct usergroup seminars for staff, as requested by MIS.
• Perform sales functions by introducing new customers to the company’s services and negotiating prices according to their needs
• Ensure TSA regulations are properly followed by all employees
• Monitor employee/driver activities to ensure compliance with safety procedures
• Perform other managerial duties as needed

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma
• Bachelor’s degree or related higher education preferred
• Managerial experience in the transportation industry

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
