What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bookstore Clerk position at Davis Technical College?
Serves as cashier and clerk in the bookstore, order books and materials, coordinate and copy curriculum, collect funds, and perform various other clerical duties.
- Works as cashier/clerk in the College bookstore
- Photocopies, collates, and binds curriculum and materials sold; and keeps sufficient copies on hand for student sales
- Reconciles cash box and creates deposits for bookstore purchases
- Performs other related duties as required
- Graduation from High School or equivalent
- Proven experience in retail sales, cashiering, stocking, and customer service
- One year of experience performing related duties
- An equivalent combination of education and experience
- Working knowledge of cash registers, inventory control, merchandising, stocking shelves, and customer service
- General office procedures and practices
- Basic knowledge of computer applications
- Some knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting; 10 key operation; basic mathematics; skill in typing and operation of various types of office equipment
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to develop effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, students, and the public
- Ability to work independently and manage work assignments in a high interpersonal contact environment
- Ability to deal effectively with stress caused by workload and time deadlines
