Special Education Assistant (Post High School) // Vista Education Campus 5.9 hrs per day // 9 months // Salary Grade 7 - $19.40 per hour (Support Salary Table 2024-2025) [Promotions result in a minimum 5% increase] GENERAL FUNCTION: Under the general supervision of the special education teacher, the special education teacher assistant supports the implementation of student IEP's (Individualized Education Programs) by assisting the teacher in five areas of service: instructional support, management and supervision support, personal support, assessment support and materials management. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: 1. High School diploma or equivalent education and/or experience. 2. District inservice training (required after hiring). 3. Basic knowledge of academic subjects. 4. Substitution or equivalent experience preferred. 5. The specific skills required of the assistant depend upon the assignment, the student's needs and IEP, and upon the established procedures of the supervising professional.) 6. The equivalent of two years (48 semester hours) full-time education at an institution of higher education; or an associate's degree; or the ability to pass a Utah State Office of Education approved Para-Professional Test will be required in the future. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Assists students with feeding, personal hygiene, toileting, diapering, urostomy bag procedures, etc. Can include catheterization, gastronomy feedings, oxygen administration. Observes and monitors students having seizures (records data regarding physical activities, breathing, color, etc.). Can require lifting up to 50 lbs, pushing wheelchairs, positioning and carrying of students. Moderately heavy work: Exerting up to 75 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The work also requires the following physical abilities in order to perform the essential job functions: climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity and walking. **Davis School District is an Equal Opportunity Employer**
