Job Description
We are seeking a Transmission Lines & Substation Estimator candidate to join our Power Delivery team. Candidates will be responsible for reviewing, analyzing and interpreting Contract Documents (specifications, drawings, and reference information) to develop detailed, comprehensive cost estimates for various Substation projects. Candidates will also need to be able to make assumptions based on experience when detailed plans are not provided and front-end estimating is performed based on conceptual designs.
Some job duties include (but are not limited to):
- Thorough estimates and proposals for site specific projects
- Reviews project plans and specifications and confirms complete scope
- Participate in customer pre-bid meetings (in-person or virtual)
- Identify risk issues and their order of magnitude
- Solicit subcontractor and/or supplier information and pricing
- Effective contractual meetings (pre-bid, contract kickoff, post-project meetings, etc.)
- Meet estimating deadlines working independently
Qualifications
- Must be familiar with materials and equipment take-off
- Possess the ability to perform conceptual estimates based on specifications
- Possess strong mathematical, communication and computer skills
- Working knowledge of personal computers and software applications with MS Office application proficiency (proficiency in MS Project and/or Primavera scheduling software is not required but is a plus)
- Ability to compose basic, as well as complex proposals, technical documents, and formal letters
- Ability to make presentations to both small and large, diverse groups; ability to communicate with clients, engineers and internal operations
- Excellent organizational, planning and time management skills
- High attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies
- General understanding of Fixed Price, Time & Materials, Cost Plus and Unit contract pricing mechanism
- Minimal to moderate travel requirements
- Must be able to pass criminal background check and drug screening
