Job Summary
The Commercial Service Electrician is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, repairing, and installing electrical systems in commercial buildings and facilities. This position requires a strong understanding of electrical code compliance, customer service, diagnostics, and job safety standards. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering high-quality workmanship while providing exceptional service to customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, equipment, and components in commercial facilities.
- Perform service calls, maintenance, and repairs on electrical wiring, panels, lighting systems, controls, and power distribution equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, schematics, and specifications to identify issues and determine repair solutions.
- Ensure all electrical work complies with NEC requirements and applicable local and state codes.
- Perform preventive maintenance inspections and identify potential electrical issues before failures occur.
- Install and replace electrical panels, conduit, switches, receptacles, lighting fixtures, and other electrical components as needed.
- Communicate repair recommendations and project updates clearly and professionally with customers.
- Collaborate with project managers, foremen, apprentices, and other trades to ensure efficient workflow and customer satisfaction.
- Maintain accurate service records, work orders, and documentation.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and company vehicles in good working condition.
- Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and industry best practices.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of commercial electrical experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of electrical theory, the National Electrical Code (NEC), and standard industry practices.
- Experience troubleshooting and servicing commercial electrical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple service calls effectively.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in various environments.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Journeyman Electrician license preferred but not required.
