Accountant

Full-time position. Successful applicant performs a wide range of duties to assist with accounting functions of the College, to include financial reporting, budgeting, processing of accounts payable and accounts receivable, and support of payroll functions.

DUTIES:

• Performs a wide range of accounting functions as assigned. These functions may include the following:
• Maintain depreciation schedules and track fixed asset inventory.
• Reconcile and report investment activity, including endowment funds.
• Reconcile various cash accounts and other assigned general ledger accounts with internal and external reports/statements.
• Assist with cash management and proper recording of all cash activity, including federal funds.
• Assist with importing and reconciling all financial aid, as well as general gift and grant activity.
• Assist with required tax filings.
• Prepare and process adjusting journal entries to record transactions and correct improper postings.
• Provide support with special projects and all special reporting, to include audits as required.
• Extensive use of spreadsheets and an integrated accounting software system.
• Provide backup for other positions in the office as needed.
• Other duties necessary for the successful operation of the Business Office.

PREREQUISITES/EDUCATION:

• BA in accounting is preferred.
• Experience in non-profit, higher education or public accounting preferred.
