JOB PURPOSE:
Supporting The CP Way by planning, implementing, and evaluating classroom instructional activities to create exceptional outcomes for College Place High School students and staff.
Job Title: Educational Technology Specialist
Reports to: Assigned Building Principal
Bargaining Group: WWVEA
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
POSITION & BENEFITS:
Position: 8 hours per day, 187 days per school year (10 months)
Salary: $58,97, - $114,490 (educational incentive available in accordance with applicable collective bargaining agreement as negotiated)
Anticipated Start Date: 08/14/2026
Benefits: Medical/Dental/Vision, FSA/DCAP, Life/AD&D through SEBB (School Employee Benefits Board); and Retirement through DRS (Department of Retirement Systems) for eligible employees
Additional Benefits: Optional 403(b) retirement plan; Optional DCP (deferred compensation program) retirement plan

Required Qualifications
• Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with appropriate endorsement(s)
• Ability to work effectively with students, staff, and families from diverse cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
• Demonstrated instructional expertise and classroom management skills
• Strong understanding of educational technology, digital citizenship, and technology integration
Preferred Qualifications
• Successful experience teaching elementary technology
• Experience with educational technology platforms and instructional technology integration
• Experience with coding, robotics, STEM, and project-based learning
• Bilingual/Biliterate in Spanish
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
1. Develop and Lead a Comprehensive K-5 Technology Program
• Design and implement a vertically aligned K-5 technology curriculum.
• Align instruction with district priorities, state standards, and ISTE Standards for Students.
• Create a clear progression of technology skills and experiences across grade levels.
• Balance foundational technology skills, creativity, innovation, problem-solving, and digital citizenship.
• Continuously evaluate and refine the program based on student needs and emerging technologies.
2. Provide High-Quality Technology Instruction
• Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based technology lessons to all students.
• Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
• Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes active participation and creativity.
• Manage instruction effectively across multiple grade levels and developmental stages.
• Establish and maintain standards of student behavior that support learning and responsible technology use.
3. Integrate Technology into Academic Learning
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to connect technology instruction to classroom curriculum.
• Design technology-rich learning experiences that support literacy, mathematics, science, social studies, and other content areas.
• Help students use technology to communicate ideas, solve problems, conduct research, and demonstrate learning.
• Support school and district improvement goals through effective technology integration.
4. Teach Digital Citizenship and Responsible Technology Use
• Provide developmentally appropriate instruction in:
• Online safety
• Privacy and security
• Cyberbullying prevention
• Media literacy
• Digital ethics
• Responsible use of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies
• Model positive digital behaviors and responsible technology use.
• Help students develop critical thinking skills when interacting with digital content and AI-generated information.
5. Develop Foundational Technology Skills
Provide instruction in:
• Keyboarding and typing proficiency
• Basic computer operations
• Google Workspace applications and productivity tools
• Digital organization and file management
• Research and information literacy
• Digital communication skills
• Introduction to coding and computational thinking
• AI awareness and recognition appropriate for elementary learners
6. Foster Creativity, Innovation, and Problem Solving
• Incorporate project-based learning opportunities.
• Provide opportunities for students to create original digital products.
• Utilize coding, robotics, STEM activities, multimedia production, and design thinking when appropriate.
• Encourage innovation, perseverance, collaboration, and creativity.
• Promote authentic learning experiences that connect technology to real-world applications.
7. Support AI Awareness and Human-Centered Technology Use
Consistent with CPPS AI guidance for grades K-5:
• Support teacher-led exploration of artificial intelligence concepts.
• Help students understand that AI is a tool that requires human judgment and critical thinking.
• Teach students to question, evaluate, and verify AI-generated information.
• Reinforce that technology supports learning but does not replace human thinking, creativity, or decision-making.
• Collaborate with staff to model age-appropriate and ethical uses of AI in education.
8. Collaborate with Staff and Families
• Build positive relationships with teachers, support staff, administrators, and families.
• Serve as a resource for technology integration and instructional technology best practices.
• Share instructional resources, strategies, and technology tools with staff.
• Participate in grade-level collaboration, school improvement efforts, and professional learning activities.
• Communicate effectively regarding student progress and technology initiatives.
9. Assess Student Learning
• Evaluate student growth using classroom, district, and state assessment data as appropriate.
• Maintain accurate records of student learning and progress.
• Utilize assessment information to adjust instruction and improve student outcomes.
• Collaborate with teachers and specialists to identify student needs and implement appropriate interventions.
10. Provide Technology Leadership
• Stay current on educational technology trends, best practices, AI developments, and instructional innovation.
• Support implementation of district technology initiatives.
• Promote effective and responsible technology use throughout the school.
• Serve as a leader in advancing technology-enhanced learning opportunities.
