Farmworker

We are a family farm growing corn and soybeans. We use John Deere equipment and the Green Star precision farming system. We plant and harvest our crops as well as do our own spraying, tillage and anhydrous application. Employees will need to help with all aspects of farming which also includes cleaning grain bins, fixing tile holes and doing maintenance on equipment. We have a cow/calf herd with calving season in February and March that requires keeping dry bedding in the barn, hauling manure. In the summer we bale our own hay for cattle feed and bale corn stalks in the fall for bedding. Job duties will include: prepare fields for planting, attach farm implements such as plows, discs, sprayers, or harvesters to tractors, using bolts and hand tools, operate tractors, planters, manure spreaders, operate other farm equipment, engage in planting, weeding, spraying and/or harvesting activities, fertilize, dust, and spray crops, load hoppers, containers, or conveyors to feed machines with products, using forklifts, transfer augers, suction gates, shovels, or pitchforks, manipulate controls to set, activate, and adjust mechanisms on machinery, mix specified materials or chemicals, and dump solutions, powders, or seeds into machinery, load crops and unload crops, operate equipment to harvest crops, haul crops, supplies, and tools, inspect, adjust, and complete routine maintenance and repairs on equipment. Employer may provide performance bonuses at the end of the contract at the employer’s discretion.
