DaVinci Academy of Silicon Valley
Campbell, CA Full Time
POSTED ON 3/25/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 5/24/2026

Seeking Assistant Teacher/Teacher In Training for WASC-accredited non-profit TK-8. This role will be supporting where needed the 4th to 8th grade classroom(s), with a goal toward having own classroom as a Teacher.

Our school represents a radical departure from the traditional one-subject teacher-led methods, using unique philosophy, methodology, and curriculum since 1986. There are a lot of things that make us unique, and you will have the room to provide your own expertise and input to the curriculum and the classroom.

Some things that make us unique:

- Each student learns step-by-step in increasing difficulties and complexities, with constant practical application activities and teacher-guided comprehension checks.

- Each student has a personalized learning path, and each subject is taught progressively, so a student is encouraged and rewarded at excelling where they are strong, and focused on where they are needing improvement.

- Students are self-directed using step-by-step guides through sections of material, building on fundamentals of complete understanding of vocabulary, learning with application as a goal, learning with as much real-world experience as possible, and learning progressively.

- The Standards Department, our internal Quality Control, assesses students for mastery understanding of the material covered by each Guide, before they can continue the next one.

- Classes go on frequent field trips, including overnight trips, art museums, live performances, nature excursions, aquariums and zoos, Tech Museum and Maker Faire, and community service throughout the year.

- The school is a year-round school, with classes starting at 8:45 AM and ending at 4:15 PM (with after-school enrichment programs until 5:30 PM)

- Teachers are coaches, motivators, problem solvers, debuggers, cheerleaders, fixers, lead by curiosity, lead by example, and lead by intuition and experience. Teachers are well-rounded, lifelong learners, and quick learners - and they inspire the same.

Work duties include: student supervision during snack, lunch and recess; classroom support during academics; teacher support by prepping materials; running short activities such as P.E., games, manual skills, etc.

This position includes some training in our school philosophy and methods, and how to support students in our Independent Mastery Learning Program.

For all positions:

We value good communication skills (verbally and in writing), a positive attitude, good teamwork skills, and a love for teaching young children. Our student-teacher ratio peaks at 1:15.

Compensation depends on education and experience, with a range from $25 - $32/hour.

Duties may include but are not limited to:

- Supervising small and large groups of students in the classroom, at snack and lunch, during P.E. and outdoor play, during after school activities, etc. At times this could include running an activity or game, assisting with pick-up or drop-off, etc.

- Keeping students safe.

- Guiding students smoothly as they transition from one activity or period to the next.

- Assisting the teacher(s) in class activities and lessons through the day, i.e. Reading, Math, Social Studies, P.E., Music, Art, Science, STEAM Activities, Study and Life Skills and Independent Learning Skills.

- Modeling a positive and upbeat attitude for children and guiding them with warmth and patience while keeping school rules clear and consistent.

- Coordinating with the teacher(s) or Dean on overall well-being of students while under your supervision, as well as regarding any individual issues that may arise and need addressing.

- Coordinating and managing field trips and events, including overnight and multi-night trips to Sacramento, Philadelphia, D.C., and/or tent camping.

Our goal throughout the K-8 program is to empower children to become competent, confident learners and leaders. This involves building a strong foundation and personal confidence through excellent orientation, clear direction, kind and patient teachers, plenty of hands-on learning and firsthand experiences through field trips, experiments and activities.

About You:

- As an aspiring teacher or educator, you are both caring and dynamic - able to manage groups of children with calm, clear direction; providing positive control while respecting the students as individuals.

- Interested in the well-being of children and are able to connect with each student and to create a friendly and constructive atmosphere. You want to teach self-discipline and self-control.

- You have a high degree of warmth and patience for helping children and enjoy their curiosity, energy and communication. You want to shape lives.

- You are interested in learning DaVinci Academy's philosophy and methods, emphasizing students' abilities and competence, and helping them build on their strengths and master personal areas of challenge.

- Interested in learning new things and able to inspire that enthusiasm in others. Curious and solution-minded.

- You are able to meet moderate physical demands that can occur during the school day or on regular field trips and excursions, such as walking and hiking. This can include occasionally lifting 30-40 pounds, or staying on one's feet for a period of time.

- You have an eye for detail, are punctual and can coordinate and work well with a team.

- You want to work in education and shaping student's lives, but you don't particularly want to work churning 30 students per hour through the same thing, year after year.

- You admire Ms. Frizzle, and want to be as inspiring in all subjects.
