QUALIFICATIONS |
|
|
Required: · High school diploma, G.E.D. certificate, or satisfactory progress towards a G.E.D. · Good general health; capable of heavy lifting. · Demonstrate or develop skills in the use and care of commercial food service equipment, food preparation, reading and following standardized recipes. · Effective leadership skills. · Must meet the requirements of 702 KAR 6:045, which prescribes the necessary qualifications and training of beginning school food service employees.
Knowledge Of: · Basic computer skills including use of mouse and keyboard to navigate computer, e-mail, and websites. · Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Google Documents, and POS programs. · Competence in management skills, food preparation, mathematics, record keeping. · Demonstrate or develop skills in reading and following standardized recipes, use and care of commercial equipment and utensils. · Meal production planning · Procedures and methods used in ordering, receiving, storing and inventorying food and supplies. · Applicable District, Federal and State laws, rules and regulations related to food service. · Quantity food preparation and food merchandising. · Principles and practices of supervision and training. · Interpersonal skills: tact, patience, and courtesy · HACCP rules and regulations pertaining to food establishments, including sanitation and maintenance regulations. · Budget control

Job Summary: To ensure the safe and efficient operation of the school cafeteria for the ultimate health, comfort and benefit of the students. To manage, coordinate and oversee day-to-day food service operations at an assigned school site in the absence of the Food Service Manager and provide work direction to assigned personnel with little direction.
Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities:
· Assist the Food Service Manager in planning, organizing and leading the food service operations at an assigned school site; assure the serving and storage of food is in accordance with established guidelines and procedures. · Oversee serving of meals to students, teachers and other staff; participate in food serving and preparation as needed; assure compliance with serving size requirements. · Meet schedules and time lines. · Train and provide work direction for assigned personnel. · Prepare and maintain assigned daily records and reports accurately and on a timely basis. · Assure proper cleanliness and maintenance of equipment and supplies used in the cafeteria; assure compliance with safety and sanitation regulations. · Observe and enforce health and safety regulations. · Receive, inspect, verify and accept delivery of food and supplies; utilize proper methods of storing foods. · Confer with Food Service Manager regarding cafeteria needs, conditions and menu changes. · Operate a variety of commercial equipment and machines, including cash register, slicer, chopper, mixer, oven and others required. · Maintain confidentiality of students and staff members. · Assure accuracy of daily cash receipts. · Participate in the district in-service meetings and training programs for school food service personnel. · Participate in area, state and national workshops and other professional growth activities, as opportunities are made available. · Participate in professional association activities and encourage staff participation. · Report accidents and refer potential safety hazards to the site’s Food Service Manager. · Demonstrate a positive attitude toward good nutrition. · Perform related duties at special meal functions, such as banquets, when needed. · Understand and follow both oral and written directions. · Maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others. · Demonstrates loyalty and dedication to the purposes and goals of the Daviess County Public Schools. · Assume and carry out such other tasks as may be assigned by the manager, principal and/or school food service director. |
