Job Overview:
This is an exciting new opportunity that supports the account management staff in a range of general accounting functions in the management of a portfolio of captive insurance companies.
This person would handle accounting, regulatory compliance and customer service for various captive insurance company portfolios as well as maintain electronic files while adhering and maintaining standards to ensure compliance with ISMS policy and procedure.
The ideal candidate has either a formal education or a year of equivalent work experience, exceptional math skills or bookkeeping experience due to the nature of the role and is highly accurate with data entry within a reasonable speed, positive attitude with excellent interpersonal skills and is driven, organized, and detail oriented.
Key Responsibilities
With the Accounting Manager, perform the following duties which include, but are not limited to:
- Performing monthly bank reconciliations
- Performing monthly cash reconciliations
- Assisting in monthly reconciliation of general ledger accounts
- Maintaining client files and financial records
- Running month or quarter end reports as requested
- Making month or quarter end journal entries
- Assisting Accounting Manager in financial statement preparation.
- Some independent preparation on less complex accounts.
- Assisting Accounting Manager with regulatory correspondence and compliance
- Professional correspondence and interaction with client and related service providers
- Assisting in arrangement of Board of Directors and Annual General Meetings as required
- Ensuring Accounting Manager, Account Manager and/or Senior Account Manager are copied on all relevant correspondence
- Assist company by adhering to and maintaining standards in accordance with ISMS policy and procedure
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or another related field
- Exceptional Math skills or Bookkeeping experience is essential
- High level of accuracy needed to input data that is complex, technical, or confidential in nature at a reasonable rate of speed
- Proficiency in QuickBooks and MS Suite Products
- Must be a team player that works well under pressure with minimal supervision and has a great attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, oral and written
- Ability to meet stringent deadlines
- Well versed in English grammar, vocabulary, punctuation, and spelling
