Mowing Crew Lead
Location: Lynchburg, VA

Position Summary
As a Mowing Crew Lead, you will oversee a small team of 2–4 crew members and ensure daily lawn maintenance routes are completed safely, efficiently, and to company standards. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and hands-on experience in lawn care or landscaping. The ideal candidate leads by example, takes pride in quality work, and helps maintain a productive and positive team environment.
Key ResponsibilitiesCrew Leadership & Route Management
- Lead and manage a lawn care crew on daily service routes
- Ensure jobs are completed safely, efficiently, and to company standards
- Train and mentor new crew members on equipment operation and safety procedures
- Keep the crew organized, motivated, and on schedule throughout the workday
Lawn Maintenance Services
- Perform mowing, edging, trimming, blowing, and seasonal lawn maintenance services
- Follow property instructions, mowing patterns, and service expectations
- Inspect completed properties to ensure quality and attention to detail
Equipment Operation & Maintenance
- Operate commercial lawn equipment including mowers, trimmers, edgers, and blowers
- Perform routine equipment checks and basic preventative maintenance
- Track equipment condition and report repairs or damages promptly
- Maintain clean and organized trucks, trailers, and tools
Customer Service & Communication
- Communicate professionally with customers on-site
- Address concerns respectfully and notify management of any issues
- Track job completion times, route progress, and materials used accurately
Safety & Site Care
- Ensure all crew members follow company safety procedures and wear required PPE
- Maintain awareness of surroundings including people, pets, vehicles, and obstacles
- Leave every property clean, professional, and free of debris
Qualifications & Skills
- 1–2 years of experience in lawn care, landscaping, or groundskeeping
- Previous leadership or crew lead experience preferred
- Ability to safely operate commercial lawn care equipment
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 50 lbs regularly
- Ability to walk, bend, stand, and perform physical labor for extended periods
- Comfortable working outdoors in heat, cold, and changing weather conditions
