The Part-time Proctor is responsible for proctoring tests provided by the College Testing Center. This position reports to the Coordinator, Testing Services. The Part-time Proctor has the following responsibilities:
Essential Job Functions
- Assist with meeting needs of students, faculty and staff
- Administer and proctor tests including testing at off site locations such as North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections testing
- Assist in maintaining a quality learning and testing environment in accordance with Academic Support Services and College policies and procedures
- Maintain open, robust and timely communication with colleagues and supervisor
- Troubleshoot, document and communicate to the Coordinator, Testing Services technical difficulties related to electronic testing and assist students with regaining access to tests if necessary
- Serve as a scribe or reader in the Testing Center for students with approved Academic Support Plans as needed
- Maintain currency of knowledge related to testing matters
- Assist instructors in test pick-up in the Testing Center
- Appropriately communicate academic integrity violations and behavioral issues to the Coordinator, Testing Services
- Maintain confidentiality and security of student tests and information in accordance with FERPA regulations
- Assist with data entry and reports as needed
- Provide students with requested information, thoroughly explain the information, and make referrals to other College departments as appropriate
- Respond in a timely manner to inquiries and requests from students, faculty and staff providing appropriate information
- Work with Academic Support staff to develop meaningful evaluations of services and use data to inform decision making processes
- Participate in professional development to enhance skills in meeting the needs of students
- Supports the mission, vision, and values of the College and attends College events and meetings
- Performs other tasks as assigned which support the mission and initiatives of the College
Minimum Qualifications Required
- Associate’s degree from an accredited institution
- A minimum of one year customer service experience
- Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
- Experience with data entry
- Flexible schedule with the ability to work morning, day, afternoons and evenings
- Ability to thoroughly assist with the informational needs of individuals
- Demonstrated strong organizational and planning skills
- Strong computer skills and commitment to using technology
- Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to change
- Able to work at a variety of locations
- Openness and willingness to engage in professional development activities
- Ability to be self-directed as well as work effectively and collaboratively with others in a team environment
- Familiarity with and appreciation for the mission of a comprehensive community college
