This part-time faculty member’s primary efforts focus on teaching and learning, academic excellence and student success. Primary responsibilities include designing and implementing learning strategies for students in Medical Laboratory Technology. This position reports directly to the Medical Laboratory Technology Program Director. Davidson-Davie Community College faculty members have the following responsibilities including, but not limited to:
- Promote the college mission, vision and values
- Teach assigned courses at various locations to meet program needs, including, but not limited to day, evening, weekend, and online
- Ensure that each class session contains essential curricular components, has appropriate content and pedagogy, and maintains currency
- Evaluate student progress and provide appropriate, timely feedback
- Provide and/or facilitate quality experiences in the learning environment(s) to meet program needs
- Develop course syllabi and provide appropriate written information to students concerning course evaluation and criteria
- Incorporate appropriate instructional technology to enhance student learning
- Assist in the evaluation of courses and programs
- Prepare and submit instructional records, reports and grades established by institutional policy.
- Participate in professional development to enhance instructional and technical skills
- Attend appropriate internal and external meetings
- Assist in student recruitment and retention
- Maintain accessibility to students, faculty and staff
Successful candidates will possess:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in relevant discipline
- Current certification as Medical Laboratory Scientist/Technologist from a certifying board such as ASCP or AMT
- At least three years of experience in the field
Preferred Qualifications:
- Teaching experience in Hematology/Hemostasis
- Experience with NAACLS accreditation standards
Experience using a Learning Management System, such as Moodle, to deliver course content
