Davidson College Day Camp at the Lake is hiring Office Staff, Camp Counselors, and Boat Drivers for Summer 2023. Camp staff oversee the day camp program for rising 5th-9th graders who participate in activities that include: waterskiing, wakeboarding, sailing, canoeing, kayaking, tubing, archery, swimming and more. Ideal candidates will have experience working with youth age 10-14 in an outdoor setting.
Requirements for All Positions:
All staff are required to hold current Lifeguard and CPR/First Aid/AED for the Professional Rescuer Certifications by the first day of camp. Full course will be offered prior to staff training.
Boat drivers are required to have a North Carolina Boaters License.
Office Staff: (1-2 Positions Available)
- Respond to customer service calls to camp cell phone and email
- Organize groups and assist with counselor assignments
- Develop group’s daily activity schedules
- Organize and distribute group’s lunches daily
- Meet late arriving/early leaving campers and transport them to/from their groups
- Take pictures of a wide variety of groups and activities daily
- Oversee afternoon snack bar sales
- At least one of the two office staff members is required to be in office at all times during camp day
- Typical Schedule: Mon-Thurs (7:30am-5:00pm), Fri (7:30am-1:00pm)
- Available June 5-August 4
Camp Counselor: (6-8 Positions Available)
- Supervise campers in all areas of the lake campus facility
- Lead skits, games, chants, songs, games, or other camp focused activities
- Setup, maintain, and breakdown equipment and activity areas
- Oversee check in and checkout of campers
- Identify and respond in emergency situations
- Typical Schedule: Mon-Thurs (7:30am-5:00pm), Fri (7:30am-1:00pm)
- Available June 5-August 4
Boat Driver/Ski Instructor: (3 Positions Available)
- Oversee ski/wakeboard/tubing activities
- Safely operate motorboats and instruct participants
- Setup, Maintenance & Breakdown of Boating Equipment (Boats, skis, lifejackets, etc.)
- Supervise campers in the boathouse and dock areas
- Support the Sailing Instructor and sailing instruction activities
- Assist in developing Boathouse CLT’s
- Typical Schedule: Mon-Thurs (7:30am-5:00pm), Fri (7:30am-1:00pm)
