What are the responsibilities and job description for the Stage Technician - PT position at Davidson College?
Assisting with providing stage set-ups and show positions for the Duke Family Performance Hall. Act as the second audio engineer for events in DFPH. Assisting the TD, and other Stage Technicians in any and all functions with professional staging.
Responsibilities:
- Fill various stagehand roles for the Duke Family Performance Hall events as needed. May include fly rail, lights, or other A/V work.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum 3 years' experience; technical knowledge is very experienced based. School work may not provide all knowledge needed fulfill duties adequately.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in technical theater
Skills & Training:
- Understanding basic set-up, operations, and maintenance of lights, sound, video, rigging systems.
- Work effectively with faculty, administrators, students, and non-Davidson/touring performers and crew.
- Experienced in basic computer programs. Ability to keep a professional attitude at all times.
Work Environment:
Indoor and Outdoor work; ability to lift up to 70lbs.; climb ladders, balancing work in lifts up to 35 ft. above stage; Crouching to reach objects; work in dark, silent places for extended periods of time; work on catwalks 45 ft. above audience; work on grid 90 ft. above stage
May work 12 hours per day when needed
