The Office of Donor Relations seeks to strengthen the ties between Davidson and those who give their philanthropic and volunteer support to the college. The team is charged with producing timely, highly-personalized donor impact statements, and oversees activities such as gift acknowledgment, reporting, donor recognition, and stewardship. The Associate Director works closely with the Director and has responsibility in the areas of donor recognition and fund management and plans events such as an annual week of gratitude and an annual Board of Visitors meeting. Strong collaboration with colleagues in College Relations and across campus is critical for success.
Summary of Associate Director Responsibilities:
Directs the donor acknowledgment process to ensure the timely and personal acknowledgment of Davidson’s donors. This includes writing letters, developing acknowledgment templates, and communication tracking.
Works with the Senior Stewardship Advisor on targeted donor stewardship including in-person meetings, video acknowledgments and reflections, donor reporting, and other expressions of gratitude.
Works with the Director and Assistant Director to create gift agreements, establish funds, and maintain donor documentation. This position will also partner with cross-campus partners to ensure funds are spent in accordance with donor intent and in a timely manner.
Manages donor recognition including the Ne Ultra and Fideles giving societies. This position also manages the physical donor signage process on Davidson’s campus which includes donor communications, design, and installation.
Leads planning for the college’s annual week of gratitude ‘Cats Say Thanks. This position will also assist the Director with the Board of Visitors and Trustees Emeriti including organization of selection process, annual meeting, communications, and event planning.
The Associate Director reports to the Director of Donor Relations.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience
Three years of fundraising experience with a preference for experience stewarding donors
Desired Qualifications

Highly organized and attention to detail and accuracy
Creative problem-solving skills
Judgment and decision-making ability
Initiative and self-motivation
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Outlook, Word, Excel
Working knowledge of Google Suite products (preferred)
Experience with Blackbaud CRM and Blackbaud Awards Management (preferred)
Ability and willingness to learn, including self-help, and grow with technological change
The position will also include special projects as assigned and require staffing of Donor Relations and College Relations events from time to time.

Flexible Work Location
Davidson College Relations has a flexible work location program in line with the College’s telecommuting policy. This position is eligible for partial flexibility in work location, during non-event days, as determined with the position’s manager and reviewed regularly through our performance management processes. Candidates should expect to maintain a residence within commuting distance of the Charlotte metro area. An initial campus orientation period (of several weeks to months) worked from the office may be required. This policy is reviewed periodically.
