Crops/Commodities: pistachios. Inspect, maintain, repair, and overhaul farm machinery and vehicles such as tractors, harvesters, forklifts, and other farm implements. Dismantle defective machines for repair using hand tools, record repairs made and parts used, and reassemble machines and equipment following repair, testing operation and making adjustments as needed. Clean and lubricate parts and perform engine tune-ups, including diagnostics for repair or replacement, adjusting or replacing parts as necessary. Change and repair motors, transmissions, drive lines, brakes, lights, and air systems. Test and replace electrical components and systems using test meters and hand tools. Mechanics will perform regular preventative service, maintenance and repairs on various types of engines to ensure efficiency of operation. Work on diesel and gasoline engines. Work on hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems. Job duties will include the regular servicing of trucks and other farm equipment, including spray equipment, tractors and vehicles. Inspect vehicles and equipment for wear, damage, and diagnosis of specific problems that might affect performance. Perform engine tune-ups, including diagnostics for repair or replacement, and adjust or replace parts, as necessary. Change and repair motors, transmissions, drive lines, brakes, lights and air systems. Responsible for maintenance and upkeep of truck body and truck boxes. Perform basic vehicle care, including changing oil and rotating tires. Inspection and preventative service of fleet will regularly expose workers to moving mechanical parts. Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues and make necessary repairs to ensure equipment operates safely and efficiently. Conduct routine preventive maintenance including oil changes, lubrication, filter replacement, and adjustments. Weld, fabricate, and assemble parts as needed to maintain or modify equipment, and fabricate new metal parts using drill press, lathe, metal saw, and other machine tools. Repair bent or torn sheet metal. Keep accurate maintenance logs and communicate repair needs to supervisors. Operate tractors, trucks, and other farm vehicles to test repairs and perform on-site field repairs as needed. Maintain a clean and safe work environment and follow all safety procedures. When not engaged in mechanic work, may perform general farm labor such as operating equipment in the field, assisting with irrigation, or performing general maintenance around the farm as directed. Supervisor(s) will provide instructions and directions to workers. Workers must be able to comprehend and follow instructions and communicate effectively to supervisors. Workers must operate all equipment properly and in a manner that protects operator, others, and the employer's products and property. Failure to comply with safety requirments and operating instructions may result in disciplinary action up to and including immediate termination. Unusual, complex or non-routine activities will be supervised. Workers expected to perform basic duties in a proficient manner without close supervision. Allergies to ragweed, goldenrod, honeybees, insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, or related chemicals may affect a worker's ability to perform the job. Persons seeking employment in this position must be available for the entire period requested by the employer. Employer may request, but not require, workers to work more than the stated daily hours and/or on a worker's Sabbath or federal holidays. Worker must report to work at designated time and place each day. Daily or weekly work schedule may vary due to weather, sunlight, temperature, crop conditions, and other factors. Employer will notify workers of any change to start time. Workers will have an unpaid lunch break. TERMINATION.
