What are the responsibilities and job description for the Server position at David Reay's Modern Diner + Tavern?
- Greet guests in a friendly, professional, manner
- Offer daily specials, inform about any menu changes, 86's, etc
- Suggest food and beverages to the guest, ability to upsell.
- Take food and beverage orders and enter correctly into Toast, our point of sale (POS) system.
- Enter orders and modifiers accurately into the POS.
- Understand and communicate products and services available at the restaurant.
- Communicate to the guest and provide assistance with their queries.
- Observe guests, using emotional intelligence to ensure satisfaction with food and service.
- Bring any potential problems to the attention of a manager immediately.
- Maintain a first-class dining experience, delivering orders, fulfilling customer needs, offering desserts and drinks, removing courses, replenishing utensils, refilling glasses.
- Accurately accept payments, issue receipts, return change.
- Print closing report, close shift, deposit payments and credit card slips
- Perform sidework and basic cleaning tasks.
- Fill in for absent staff as needed, potentially as a host, or other positions
- Adhere to grooming and appearance standards consistently.
