Pediatric Nurse Practitioner

David Raines Community Health Centers is looking for passionate, qualified applicants to join our team!

The School-Based Health Center (SBHC) Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP) provides comprehensive primary care, acute illness treatment, chronic condition management and screenings to students in a school setting. The PNP will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive healthcare services to children in the Shreveport/Bossier.

Work Experience Requirements

• Perform well-child exams and sports physicals.
• Administer vaccinations and other preventive healthcare measures.
• Collaborate with pediatrician and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans.
• Monitor and manage patient progress, adjusting care plans as needed.
• Diagnose and treat acute illnesses and manage chronic conditions.
• Screen, evaluate and provide referrals regarding health issues.
• Adheres to the standards of medical practice.
• Provide education to patients and families regarding nutrition and wellness.
• Coordinate care with school administration and patients.
• Maintain accurate patient records via electronic health records.
• Employment would be a full-time (40) hours per week/ non-exempt position during the SBHC calendar school year as established and approved by the governing school board.
• SBHC employees are only paid for hours worked during the time SBHC are open. SBHC employees are not paid during the summer when SBHC/schools are closed.
• Work schedules are generally Monday thru Friday, based on clinical operations and during the approved SBHC calendar year (August - May). Work schedules are not a contract of employment and may change at the needs of the DRCHC.

Education/Experience Requirements

• Master of Science Degree in Nursing with concentration in Nurse Practitioner required.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in pediatric healthcare setting preferred.
• Experience with electronic health records required, preferably Next Gen or similar EHS.
• Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Must be available to work after hours and weekends as required by management.
  
  

Licensure/Certifications

• Must be licensed as a Nurse Practitioner to practice in the State of Louisiana.
• Board certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (PNP or FNP – Peds).
• Current BLS (American Heart Association).
• Active DEA licensure
