What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teacher of Children with Moderate and/or Severe Disabilities for PACE Program position at David Prouty High School?
The PACE Programs are designed to provide learning opportunities and environments that are specifically designed for students diagnosed with intellectual disabilities. It is a substantially separate program for students with intellectual and cognitive disabilities whose level of need has been determined by a team to be such that the student will require recommended services outside of the general educational setting.
Objective: To provide optimal academic learning for special education students in a high needs sub-separate learning environment.
Reports to: Building Principal and Director of Student Services
Performance Responsibilities:
* Responsible for writing the proposed Individualized Education Program and progress notes for submission to the team chairperson.
* Provides directions, as requested, to paraprofessional staff.
* Teaching students in all academic areas and non-academic areas as specified by the education plan to ensure student success and to provide curriculum/lesson plans coordination.
* Assists in the remediation of various learning disabilities, including social/emotional and behavioral support.
* Provides written progress reports and evaluations in conjunction with special education personnel for each student assigned.
* Participates in TEAM evaluations, as well as, discussions with parents regarding individual student progress.
* Conduct testing, evaluate results, and design remediation programs as requested.
* Responsible for ordering yearly supplies and materials in consultation with the Director of Pupil Services.
* Participates in meetings with administrative, academic, and special needs personnel for the purpose of communication and coordination of programs.
* Maintains an open channel of communication between home and school and participates in conferences with parents or others, as they directly relate to the student's needs and education progress.
* Responsible for continued professional growth.
* Performs other school-related duties as assigned by the Director of Student Services and the Building Principal.
Salary : $60,563 - $102,074
