Job Overview
We are seeking two persons to expand our Survey Division and add a survey field crew. Applicants should be dedicated, and dependable individuals who enjoy working outside in the elements, and are in good physical condition. Experience is not a requirement, since this is an entry level position, but would be a huge plus. A typical day would be carry equipment over 40lbs to the work station, setting up the equipment with good attention to detail, and being on your feet until lunch. walk . Crew chief would lead and instruct field crew in land surveying, civil engineering surveys, and construction layout projects. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills in GIS, survey equipment, and data collection, along with leadership abilities and communication skills, to conduct daily operations effectively. Duties
- Conduct land surveying and construction layout activities
- Oversee data collection, GPS operations, and the use of 3D scanners to ensure accurate measurements
- Review schematics, sketches, scope of work construction documents, AutoCAD drawings, survey limits mapping, etc.
- Utilize GIS software to sketch daily progress.
- Conduct utility surveying and interpret construction schematics.
- Perform heavy lifting of equipment and materials as needed for field operations
- Ensure all team members adhere to safety protocols and maintain a safe work environment
- Assist with drafting, CAD design, and land surveying tasks using tools like Trimble software.
- Manage project timelines, assign tasks, and monitor progress to meet deadlines
- Communicate effectively with clients, engineers, and project managers regarding project status and technical issues
Qualifications
- Proven experience in land surveying, civil engineering, or construction is a huge plus.
- Knowledge of trigonometry, geometry, algebra, and math principles relevant to surveying and drafting
- High school diploma
- Clean driving record/good background history
- Ability to work on one’s feet for extended time.
- Skilled in GPS technology, data analysis skills, and the use of 3D scanners for precise measurements
- Ability to interpret construction plans, schematics, and CAD drawings accurately
- Experience with utility locating equipment and the ability to interpret utility basemaps would be a plus
- Familiarity with hand tools used in construction and drafting environments
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to teamwork effectively under crew chief and tight deadlines
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting as required on job sites
- Strong communication skills for coordinating with team members and stakeholders
