Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and professional Medical Front Desk Administrator to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while managing administrative tasks efficiently. This role requires a strong understanding of medical office operations, electronic health record (EHR) systems, and medical terminology to ensure smooth clinic functioning and compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA.
Duties
- Greet patients and visitors with professionalism and courtesy, ensuring a positive patient experience.
- Manage patient check-in and check-out processes, including appointment scheduling and rescheduling using EMR systems such Azalea Health
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance verification, and handle billing and collections related to medical services.
- Review and process medical documentation, including CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and care plans to ensure accurate recordkeeping.
- Maintain and update patient records in electronic health records (EHR) systems, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Answer multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette; handle patient inquiries efficiently.
- Assist with data entry tasks such as retrieving and reviewing reports, filing documents, and managing health information management records.
- Support administrative functions like appointment scheduling, patient intake, filing, and managing office supplies.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate smooth clinic operations and support medical office management activities.
- Ensure confidentiality of all patient information in accordance with HIPAA standards.
Skills
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Azalea, Availity and similar platforms.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, Medicare processes, and insurance verification procedures.
- Experience with medical billing and collections; familiarity with health information management is a plus.
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing skills (including 10-key typing).
- Exceptional customer service skills with professional phone etiquette
- Prior clinic or medical office experience is highly desirable; dental or hospital experience is advantageous.
- Ability to review documentation accurately and manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards to ensure patient privacy and data security.
