Job Summary
The firm is seeking a detail oriented associate attorney to join our legal team. In this role, you will provide vital support across a wide range of legal areas, including civil litigation, contract and business litigation, domestic relations and family law, personal injury law, matters involving military law and veterans affairs, and Real Estate and landlord-tenant issues. Your responsibilities will include conducting comprehensive legal research using tools such as LexisNexis drafting legal documents with precision, and assisting in case preparation, conducting discovery and preparing matters for Jury and Bench trials. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your legal expertise while contributing to impactful cases in a collegial work environment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough legal research utilizing LexisNexis research platform to gather relevant case law, statutes, and regulatory information.
- Draft and review a variety of legal documents including pleadings, motions, discovery, contracts, and correspondence with clarity and accuracy.
- Assist attorneys in preparing for depositions, trials, hearings, negotiations, and client meetings by organizing case files and summarizing key information.
- Support the firm’s litigation efforts by managing case deadlines, filing documents with courts, and maintaining meticulous case records. Knowledge and familiarity with Smokeball case management program very beneficial.
- Collaborate with team members on complex legal issues across the firm's multiple practice areas.
- Participate in client consultations by taking detailed notes and preparing summaries for attorney review.
- Stay current on legal developments through ongoing research and professional development activities.
Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school; admission to the state of Missouri is required. Admission to the state of Illinois is desired.
- Proven experience or strong familiarity with the areas of law prctced by the firm is preferred.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the legal research platform of LexisNexis.
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to produce clear and concise legal documents.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret laws and regulations across diverse practice areas of the firm, including vaterans affairs.
- Experience with legal drafting, negotiation strategies, and administrative procedures within a busy law office environment.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively while maintaining attention to detail.
