What are the responsibilities and job description for the ELECTRONIC TECHNICIAN position at David Clark Company Incorporated?
SUMMARY:
This individual resides in production and has oversight responsibility for the integrity and execution of product test, troubleshooting and repair in a defined section of David Clark manufacturing. This job requires hands-on involvement with all aspects of the production process; including active participation in methods of manufacture with the goal of improving productivity while maintaining world-class quality standards. This individual will also be involved in the repair process relative to Customer Returned active ANR, wireless ground support and Digital Intercom product lines.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate and maintain oversight of product flow through test and products returned for repair. This includes, but is not limited to,
- Disassembly of customer returned products,
- Diagnosis of failure,
- Repair and reassembly of the repaired product
- Test and QA audit of the repair prior to return to the customer.
- Troubleshoot down the component level, sub-assemblies or final product that have been returned seeking the most efficient and cost effective means to identify and repair faults.
- Initiate timely corrective action based on troubleshooting findings.
- Interface with Engineering to improve test philosophies, fixtures and procedures.
- Interface with Q.A., Purchasing, Production Control and Engineering as appropriate when seeking remedy and resultant corrective action.
- Perform product testing when appropriate.
- Participate in the design review and conceptual development of new testers for new and existing products.
- Critique new or revised test procedures and train test personnel on new procedures.
- Participate in the development and implementation of processes and method changes that improve productivity and product quality.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and CPU literate (MSWord, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to work with minimal supervision, professionally confident and self-motivated.
- Good electro-mechanical skills to disassemble and assemble electronic products.
- Proficient working from engineering documentation (schematics, wiring diagrams, PCB assembly drawings, Bills of Material etc.)
- Proven experience and/or interest and ability to learn and develop skills with:
- Troubleshooting down to the component level analog and digital PCBA’s, acoustic transducers and cable assemblies to identify source of the fault.
- Utilizing standard and acoustic source and measurement techniques and equipment.
- SMD and leaded PCB assemblies; ability to remove and replace SMD and leaded components when necessary.
- ASEE, ASET or equivalent.
- Experience in a manufacturing organization as Production Test Technician or experience as an Engineering Technician a plus.
