What are the responsibilities and job description for the AI Account Manager position at DAVID AI?
We build AI systems for commercial clients. We're good at the building. What we need is someone who owns everything that happens between our engineers and the people paying us.
That's this job. You'd be the person who knows what every client was promised, by when, and whether that promise is still true. Nobody else here holds that picture, and it's the thing that determines whether projects land well or badly.
What you'd actually doOwn the client relationships. You're the default contact. Clients shouldn't need to chase an engineer or the founder for routine questions.
Hold the line on scope. When a client asks for something outside what they signed, you don't quietly hand it to engineering. You run the change-order process. This is the part of the job that matters most and the part most people find hardest.
Keep the record. Every commitment, date, and decision gets logged. If someone else had to pick up a project cold tomorrow, they could.
Translate. Client needs into written specs engineers can act on. You don't need to write code. You do need to ask good questions and write clearly.
Protect the team's focus. Batch questions, hold non-urgent items, shield engineers from constant interruption.
Find the next project. You'll spot expansion opportunities and prepare them. We price and close; you're commissioned on what lands.
What you would not be responsible for- Deciding whether something is technically feasible (that routes to the founder while you build fluency)
- Estimating how long work takes (engineers estimate, you schedule)
- Fixing technical problems
- Hitting a sales quota. There isn't one
You'd do well here if you:
- Are comfortable telling a client "no, that needs a change order" and meaning it
- Write clearly and quickly, and default to writing things down
- Stay organized across a lot of moving pieces without a manager checking on you
- Ask questions instead of guessing when you don't understand something technical
- Would rather deliver bad news early than hope it resolves itself
Experience: 2 years in client-facing project coordination, account management, client success, or agency work. Direct AI or software experience is a plus but is not required. We will teach the technical side.
What we don't need: a technical background, a PM certification, or agency-scale pedigree. We need judgment and follow-through.
Compensation- Base: $50,000
- Performance bonus: up to $10,000/year, paid quarterly against five objective measures. No subjective judgment, so you always know exactly where you stand
- Commission: 5% of expansion revenue you facilitate, uncapped
- Health benefit: $250/month, structured as an HSA contribution if you have a qualifying plan
- Unlimited PTO (with a 10-day-per-year minimum expectation, because we'd rather you take it)
- MacBook Air and everything else you need
We're being direct about the numbers because we'd rather you self-select now than discover it in week three.
Logistics- On-site in Provo, Utah. This is not a remote or hybrid role, and we are not offering relocation
- Hours are 9:00 to 5:30 Mountain, Monday through Thursday, with a remote day Friday
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. We are unable to provide visa sponsorship
